Materials

Habitat Haven enclosures are made from durable galvanized steel mesh panels that are then powder coated black to ensure a long-lasting weatherproof finish.

Floor and Shelves

Shelves and floors are cut to size and made from cedar which is naturally resistant to water, bugs, rot, and mold. It the ideal material choice for outdoor catio shelving and flooring.

Human Entry Doors

The access doors are 2 feet wide and 5 feet tall. This purposely small door is designed small for a reason. It is installed 4 inches off the ground as well. The door has been tested since 2003 as the most effective way to force the person entering to be mindful of their surroundings. When you enter a door like this, you will naturally be careful of where you step, what is above you and to the side. All of this awareness has proven time and time again to minimize any would-be kitty escapes during entry.

Holes for Tunnels, Towers, Stairs, etc.

Component holes are not cut where the tunnels, bridges, stairs, and other components meet the enclosures. Since the mesh is relatively easy to cut on-site during assembly, we leave the choice on where these holes are located up to you so you can position them as you see fit. This also avoids costly mistakes being made and/or accommodates site issues discovered during assembly

It is extremely important to us that your pets are secure and happy inside their Habitat Haven enclosures. We take great pride and care creating some of the finest outdoor enclosures available in the world. In order to deliver on our award-winning standards and your expectations, we think it is important to be transparent about our policies, guidelines, product claims, and liability. You can learn more about that below.

Enclosures will arrive partially assembled and flat packed on a pallet. Assembly is straightforward for anyone who would consider themselves "handy." Paper instructions will be provided. It is recommended that at least two reasonably healthy people are present to install the enclosures. Knowledge of basic carpentry and assembly is helpful.

Clips will be provided that secure the enclosure together. In addition, a special tool for snugly fitting/closing the clips is also provided with each enclosure order.

Once unpacked, you will arrange your enclosure near or on the assembly site. Using provided 3 prong clips and specialty pliers, you will connect the edges of your enclosure by setting the edges until you have a fully enclosed and free-standing enclosure. 

At that point, you can then attached to structure/buildings as necessary. Then you can create any needed holes in the enclosure to accept tunnels, stairs, or other accessory components as needed (holes are not made by Habitat Haven - they are made during assembly installation to offer maximum flexibility and minimize the chance for errors.)

This item is made to order. This means the item is fabricated by hand just for you. It goes through an array of steps before it becomes ready to ship. This process generally takes 2-4 weeks for this particular item. In some cases, it may be ready in a shorter amount of time and we will do our best to get it to you as fast as we can without compromising quality! You will be notified via email when your order is ready to ship!

Maintenance. There is minimal maintenance required because of the use of cedarwood and galvanized metal mesh. Environmental conditions such as salt air or acidic trees can shorten the lifespan of the enclosures. It is recommended that you grease the pins of the door hinges once a year using bicycle grease (never use WD40).

Installation. It is recommended that at least two reasonably healthy people are present to install the enclosures. Our systems are designed for DIY assembly by the customer. However, at least one person on-site during assembly with a functional knowledge of carpentry and assembly are recommended.

We are not responsible for damage incurred during assembly/disassembly.

It is assumed that the customer and persons involved in the installation are reasonably competent and possess the skills necessary to safely and securely install Habitat Haven enclosures.

It is the responsibility of the persons and or end-user to comply with all laws regarding the installation and use of any product or service that Habitat Haven provides, either directly or indirectly. It is also the responsibility of the persons or end-user to ensure that competent people are involved in installation, assembly and to use the product in accordance with directions or instructions provided to the end-user at the time of installation and/or delivery.

Use of Habitat Haven Enclosures. It is not recommended that cats 3 months, toy dogs 4 months or younger be allowed in the enclosure made from the 2”x 2” mesh. It is possible that the kittens or puppies will slip out or their heads will get stuck. For other dog breeds it is up to to the customers’ judgment as to the age of the dog allowed in the enclosure.

Payment. Due to the way we process and ship orders, your payment will be due 100% upfront before we can begin making your order. This means your payment will be authorized and captured immediately for your order.

Order Cancellations. No cancellations will be accepted. Habitat Haven enclosures are made to order. This means that they are custom fabricated and each component is made especially for you. This also means that any attempt to cancel an order after we have started the process of making your order results in a very large loss.  If your order includes but not limited to modified enclosures, custom configurations, and special-order items, all sales are final and cancellations are not allowed.

Shipping. Orders are shipped using our network of freight carriers (including but not limited to Estes, R&L, UPS Freight, FedEx Freight) 2 to 4 weeks from payment confirmation in continental North America. An email confirmation is sent when the order is shipped. The shipment may be a single shipment or in multiple shipments depending on the size and items in your order. Alternate arrangements can potentially be made for rush shipping.

Refunds. We will accept any standard (not customized) pre-packaged kits for a refund of the purchase price of the product within 30 days of the delivery date to the customer. There will be a 10% restocking charge. The cost of shipping the returned item will be the customer’s responsibility. Also, due to the cost of shipping large and heavy items like this, the original shipping (getting the item to you) will be retained from the refund. 

If the product is damaged during delivery to the customer, we will send replacement parts. A damaged part in no way extends our return policy to cover refunding shipping and handling costs.

Proof must be provided of damaged parts before they will be replaced. This may include a digital photo, analog photo, video or return of the damaged item. Return requirements and/or proof will be requested at our discretion.

It is the customer’s responsibility to properly package and insure returned packages as well as handle any claim issues regarding damage during the return.

We cannot accept returns for used or opened accessory items, unless it is due to a defect with the product. This includes and is not limited to damage done to any awnings, hammocks, or tool products.

Once returns are received, they will be inspected for damage. Unacceptable or missing items will be deducted from the refund amount at the full retail price. It is solely at our discretion to determine if the parts are in acceptable condition or missing.

We do not offer refunds for defects in wood or bamboo. Care is taken prior to shipping to ensure material defects that may affect performance are removed prior to shipping. It is at our discretion to determine if a flaw warrants a replacement or refund.
