The Conversion System for Shorter Fences will allow you to add up to 3' overall to the height of your existing fence... Now you can use Purrfect Fence to Cat-Proof your fence or wall even if it is only 3' high!
The Conversion System for Shorter Fences will convert your shorter fence into a escape-proof fence for cats. The 100 ft kit includes an (12) Cat-Proofer spring-loaded arms, extender for each arm, the associated mounting brackets and a 6' tall roll of fence per 100 feet. By comparison, a 50 ft kit includes (6) Cat-Proofer spring loaded arms and 50 feet of fencing material.
Keep in mind that every fence is different and there are no universally followed guidelines for post spacing, height, materials used, etc. A 50ft kit is designed for the average 50 linear feet of fence. 100 ft kit is designed for an average 100 linear feet of fence. A 200 ft kit is designed for the average 200 linear feet of fence. If you have gates, turns, short or long spans between posts then you may find that you need more or less components than comes with the kit. If in doubt, contact us first!
The extension tubes are made of thick 14 gauge steel (an arm set as high as possible on an extension tube can hold well over 50lbs). The scrunched end of the extension tube slides inside of the leg of the Conversion System Arms. The included high-strength epoxy bonds the pieces together. Once glued up, the extended arms slide into two mounting plates spaced a minimum of 4" apart secured to your fence posts with the top mounting plate set as high as possible on your post. Slide the arm to be at the desired height, tighten a set screw on each plate and your arm is secured to your post. Repeat this for all your posts and the fence material is ready to install.
Please note: If the fence is chain link, decorative aluminum or other metal picket fence you will need U-Bolts to secure the mounting bracket to the posts. You can use only one U-Bolt per bracket with this system so purchase one set of U-Bolts per post.
Items of note when planning your order/layout:
-Each existing fence is unique! The maximum span between arms is 12-14 feet. 8-10 Feet is preferred. Count and measure the distance between your posts to ensure that a kit will cover your fence.
-Gates in your fence line require special consideration. Read below for more information on gate planning and installation.
Gates need to be considered separately for your layout plan. Each gate in your existing fence is likely to need additional components depending on the location and operation.
Many outward swinging gates require 2-3 extra arm/bracket(s) per gate. Your situation may vary. If you have questions please contact us.
Don’t tell yourself you will do this tomorrow; you and your pet may not have a tomorrow together. I’m sitting here looking out the patio door at my three cats playing so happily in my safely enclosedbackyard. I should be looking at my four cats, but one (Bart) is no longer with me. He was a free spirit and there was no way I could keep him indoors. Bart was my special guy, the feral kitten I raised and loved more than all the others (shhhh, don’t tell them that). One day he roamed into the neighbor’s yard and ingested poison. The vets tried everything but could not save him. He died in my arms.
I now have my Purrfect Fence installed. I thought about doing it for months, but just couldn’t bring myself to take that first step and order it – a mistake with deadly consequences. It is so wonderful to now know that my cats can enjoy the glorious outdoors and be safe. The stress level in the household is gone. Everyone is happy!
Converting our existing privacy fence was very straightforward. The fence materials are great quality and well-designed. I would recommend this company and its products to anyone who wants a safe enclosure for their cats.
We first thought enclosing about half an acre was expensive but now realize it was well worth it to banish our constant anxiety for the cats' safety . The neighbors are happy too since I don't have to trespass across their yards and crawl under their porches to retrieve errant wanderers.
The fence was easy to install and does not interfere with our view, blending in almost to invisibility. As an added benefit is it blocks the fall leaves blowing in from neighboring yards!
Most of all the cats are able to play, explore and lead full lives within their protected area. Even our grumpy cat breaks into a smile now and then --when she thinks we aren't watching.
I installed the Existing fence conversion system for shorter fence to my 48" tall vinyl coated chain link fence by myself over a 3-day weekend. I have two gates and installed nearly 200 linear feet of fence that weekend. I have a lot of trees, so most if the first dat was spent with my chain saw clearing limbs and whatnot along the fence line. My least favorite part was the corners because the 2 & 1/2 inch U-bolts for round fence posts are so wide that they are almost too wide for the mounting bracket, so I tried attaching the corner brackets by drilling into post and attaching with screws, but the fence posts are hollow metal cylinders, so... usually what worker best was a hybrid of U-bolts and screws. I also have several trees growing along the fence line, so in addition to trimming limbs, I had to get creative with the netting at the "tree meets fence" sections of the extension system. That being said, once I got it installed and plugged all the gaps along the bottom where the existing fence was too high and my cat was squeezing out underneath, my little "Houdini" (not her name, but... she was quite the escape artist) has not been able to escape the fence. I have an elderly dog who loves her fenced back yard and doggie door, and now she can enjoy her freedom and so can the cats, and I don't have to worry about anyone escaping and getting hit by a car or eaten by coyotes any more! This product definitely works at keep cats corralled! And DIY installation is definitely doable if you're a bit handy. I do a lot of DIY (flooring, light fixtures, cabinetry, painting, etc.), so the fence wasn't too daunting. The only thing about installation (besides the 2 & 1/2 inch U-bolts barely fitting on the brackets was that the installation instructions did not tell you what to do with the set screws. I figured it out when I put the 1st pole in a bracket and it slid to the ground, but I had to go searching in the parts for something to keep the pole from s...
We all absolutely LOVE our new fence system. It has been up for 4 months. Not one of our cats has even tried to climb out. The customer service and quality of the fence is solid. The nicest most helpful people ever. Make sure you call to discuss before you purchase. The install was a little challenging and took some time but our fence was over 125 feet long. Highly recommend. Would buy again and will never worry about them escaping.
I have peace of mind for their safety now. It was definitely a good investment. My husband and I assembled it over a period of a few days. My neighbors can hardly see it (I asked their permission before I even bought it) and I’ve had no complaints from anyone. Purrfect Fence helped every step of the way including all the pieces I needed and answering assembly questions timely. I honestly felt completely taken care of and I’m glad because it was a good bit of money, for me anyway. But like someone said, pay for the fence, or pay for emergency room visit(s) in the thousands. The best part is that I can give my babies a happier and better life being able to go outdoors, and all those days of me worrying if they were going to make it back home in one piece are gone. Thank you so much, Purrfect Fence!
