What a fantastic idea for kitty proofing a fence. We have two cats and the little female decided she wanted to check out if the grass was greener on the other side of our 6 foot wooden fence and into the neighbors yard. We thought we had lost her and after a couple of hours on trying to locate and call her she decided to mew her way out of there. We heard her mews and looked over the fence to see her there. The very next day we set an appointment with the Vet to have her microchipped....and....I ordered some purrfetfence for added comfort and protection.....it arrived in quick order and we had it installed to our existing fence. A total peace of mind to know both cats are safe.....no-one gets out and no critters get in either. I've also ordered some cat tunnels from the sister company habitathaven.com. So when they want to see what's going on in the world beyond our fenced in yard they can climb up and enjoy their new lookout. Life is good for these cats and worth every penny for both the extended fencing and cat tunnels....and our peace of mind knowing they are happy, protected, and safe !!!
The fence works and it blends in with the environment so that it’s almost invisible to the eye.
In short, the fence works. Having indoor, outdoor cats my entire life and dealing with the terrors that come with that, I had for a long time wished to enclose part of our yard to protect them and have a happy healthy space for them. My husband and I are in our 60's and we have successfully installed almost half an acre of wooded property with the conversion system for our existing chain link fence. Our property is not level and has more than 30 trees. We banded 8 of them and our fence ranges from 7-8 feet with the conversion. In talking with all our cat loving friends about containing a cat outdoors as being impossible, we decided (after much review) to go for it. Our cats are climbers and so far after 3 weeks not a single escape. There are coyotes, stray dogs and cats coming by and no one has entered. We decided to test our fence out on the one cat that did go outside. We had the fence about 95% installed and I wanted to see if she would find the small spot we didn't get to. In 30 minutes she was on the front porch. After finishing the fence install, it completely contained her even when she attempted to scale the fence. Being completely transparent about the installation; it took time and sweat. We had a number of challenges but the instructions in dealing with possible problem spots was great. We submitted photos to Purrfect fence of our area and they made notes to help us with our particular challenges. A product such as this really needs a staff ready to help and we were not disappointed. Thanks!
One learning curve hack: Don't skimp on the epoxy in connecting the arm to the extension. They cannot swivel. We ended up redoing many to get it right.
It's been a month and so far no cat escapes! We modified it a bit by attaching to the outside of the fence due to a curious puppy who likes to pull on things. Works purr...fectly!
One of our male cats was introduced to the outdoors on a leash for several months before we installed the Purrfect fence so we knew he liked being outside. We didn't really know the interest level of the other 3 cats. Since opening the Purrfect fence space in our backyard a few months ago, all 4 cats spend time out there each day. The 2 male cats will spend all day out there if allowed, and the 2 females especially like to enjoy the evening hours out there.
My experience on the human side of the Purffect Fence is that the product is high quality and the customer service was excellent. I shopped other systems that were less expensive, but I doubt I would have gotten the personal support during the purchase and install process that I got from Matt at Purffect Fence.
For those of you who want to enhance your pets' lives and enjoy an excellent customer experience, I recommend that you seriously consider (and ultimately buy!) the Purrfect Fence.
We had an existing chain link fence and we bought the fence extension. It was fairly easy to install. It takes time and it a two person job, but extremely happy with how it works. It keeps the cats in our yard and other animals out! My animals love being able to come in and out as they please and I know they are safe in the yard.
